🌱 Douglas County Commission Gets New Members + Family Fun Walk

Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:

  1. Two new members joined the Douglas County Commission during Monday's meeting. Phil Miller, a retired Douglas County Sheriff, stepped up as chair of the Commission after two commissioners were indicted in an alleged bid-rigging scandal. Naval Academy graduate 35-year-old Ricky Dobbs joined Monday's meeting as the second new member. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will host the Kids Law Enforcement Academy from Jul. 18-20. The academy is open to all Douglas County students in grades five through eight who have expressed an interest in law enforcement.   3. Registration for the upcoming school year is now open for all Douglas County students. Visit the registration website here to ensure you have all the necessary documents for your child's registration, including their birth certificate, immunization records, and more.   4. The City of Douglasville is hosting a Family Fun Walk in honor of National Family Health and Fitness Day. The walk will take place in Hunter Park on Saturday, Jun. 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event is free and all are encouraged to attend, but advanced registration is required.   5. There's no shortage of things to do in Douglas County Parks this season. Upcoming events include the Musically Speaking Summer Camp for kids ages 8-13 during the week of Jul. 3, as well as the Father's Day Mixed Doubles Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, Jun. 17.
