Douglas County Courthouse Mask Mandate Lifted
The Douglas County chief judge is allowing judges and department heads to determine best practices to protect against COVID-19.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglas County Chief Judge William "Beau" McClain lifted Monday a mandatory indoor mask policy for the Douglas County Courthouse.
According to the revised order released Monday, judges can now manage their courtrooms as they see fit as any previous orders regarding COVID-19 safety guidelines and protocols have been vacated.
Department heads can operate their office spaces as they see fit, the order read.

"The court urges, but does not order, that members of the public show good common sense and avoid exposing others to the illness who may not be able to overcome it due to age or other medical condition," McClain said in the order.
The revision comes after McClain said there was a high transmission rate of the virus in Douglas County in July. He said the county has transitioned from high, to medium, to low transmission rates in the past several days.
