Douglas County Fire & EMS Resources Deployed For State Led Operation

At least ten members of the Douglas County Fire & EMS Department have been called out to serve as part of a Georgia Search and Rescue Task Force Team (GSAR) mobilized for deployment in Georgia. This comes through a State Mutual Aid Agreement with the State of Georgia.

“Georgia Search and Rescue Task Force teams are located throughout the state of Georgia and all teams are part of the state’s Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) program,” Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Chairwoman, Douglas County Board of Commissioners, said. “We find great value when called upon to assist outside of Douglas County because it shows we are dependable and dedicated. It is also worth noting that, thanks to our citizens, we have the resources to respond and support other first responders during mutual aid events.”
On January 17th, at least ten members of the Douglas County Fire & EMS Department were deployed to set up a large tent operation with generators and power provided.

The Douglas County Fire & EMS Department prides itself with the vast knowledge of certified training to support the State when called upon.
The multi-jurisdictional operation with the Georgia Search and Rescue Task Force team included the GBI, Dekalb County Fire, Atlanta Fire, Atlanta Police Department, DNR, FBI, Homeland Security, Governor’s Office, and the State Attorney General’s Office.
