Douglas County Needs A Few Good Poll Workers For The Elections
To be considered for a Douglas poll worker job, you must be 16, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Douglas County and have good English skills.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA - Want to take a bigger role in elections this year? Douglas County has the job for you.
The county is hiring around 200 or so poll workers for the upcoming elections and the pay starts at $170 and could be as much as $250 depending on the position, said Milton Kidd, Douglas County elections supervisor.
And it's going to be an exciting election year - the presidency, two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia, the 13th District Congressional seat and countywide local offices including sheriff, district attorney and commission chairman all on the ballot in 2020.

To be considered for a job as a poll worker, applicants must be 16 or older, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Douglas County and have the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Poll workers must also be computer literate. Kidd notes that if you can use a “modern day cell phone then you can use the election equipment,” the Douglas County Sentinel reported.

The elections board points out that the election process begins before Election Day, noting that advance voting begins prior to the election and there is training involved.
Election dates this year include:
• March 24: Presidential Primary and ESPLOST referendum
• May 19: General Election Primary Election
• July 21: General Primary Runoff
• Nov. 3: General Election
Anyone interested in being a poll worker can apply by going to www.celebratedouglascounty.com and looking for the departments tab at the top of the page. The application can be found under both Human Resources and Elections and Voter Registration Department.
