Douglas County Senior Winifred Page Satchell Passes At Age 100
A longtime educator before retirement, Satchell was the oldest member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lithia Springs.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Winifred Page Satchell — the oldest member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lithia Springs and one of the oldest residents of Douglas County — died Wednesday at the Douglasville Nursing and Rehab Center.
Satchell's passing was announced Friday by Cornerstone pastor Ben Lang. She celebrated her 100th birthday last October.
“Ms. Satchell was an amazing beacon of light and hope in our community,” said Douglas County Commission Chair Romona Jackson Jones. “We should remember the joy she brought to us with that special smile she always displayed.”

Born on Oct. 28, 1919, in Lithia Springs, Satchell was the daughter of the late Rufus and Lillie Page and the aunt of Winifred Pippins.
A longtime educator before retiring, Satchell was a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, New York Theological Seminary and Hofstra University.

A private funeral will be held and livestreamed from Willie Watkins Funeral Home on June 29 at 2 p.m.
