Georgia High School Student Gets 39 College Acceptance Letters

A Douglas County High School senior has received 39 college acceptance letters and about $1.6 million in scholarship offers.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA – Douglas County High Senior Jordan Nixon, 17. Nixon is one of the captains of her varsity cheer team and boy does she have something to cheer about.

She's has 39 acceptance letters to colleges and universities and has a heck of a decision to make by May.

Nixon has received scholarships totaling about $1,614,710, at last count, and she said she's still expecting more letters in the mail. She's applied to about 50 schools.

"Words cannot express how proud we are of her," said mother Angelia Nellis-Nixon. "Jordan had a strong network of supporters steeped in faith that keep her motivated and prayed up."

Her mother explained how Nixon attained such a remarkable accomplishment.

"We partnered with CollegeforSure, LLC., a full-service College Advising Company," she said. "From intake, they seek to gather the information that will lead to selecting the best post-secondary choices for a student’s optimal success in college. By using such information as academic credentials, athletic and non-athletic extracurricular interests, desired locations, and family and/or high school demographics including financial means, Ms. Cynthia DeBerry Flowers, MAT works strategically and holistically to determine the best fit with the best probabilities for acceptance and a successful collegiate career."

Her mother told Patch she definitely has plans to attend the college of her choice.

"Then the sky is the limit for her and her determination," she said.

Nixon, a 3.5 GPA holder, is also in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy and Distributive Education Clubs of America, or DECA; BETA Club; National English Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and participated as a debutante for the Marietta-Roswell Delta Sigma Theta Debutante Program.

Her hobbies are reading, writing poetry and short stories, listening to music and being with friends and family.
