  1. There is a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of North and Central Georgia, including Douglas County, for today, Oct. 17, through Saturday, Oct. 22. Temperatures will fall below freezing, which is well below normal for mid-October. The brunt of the cold weather will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Some Douglasville parents accused Olten Downs, head football coach at Alexander High School, of improper player recruitment. Parents allege that Downs is recruiting and playing athletes who don't live in the district. The Douglas County School System conducted an internal investigation and said "appropriate corrective action" will be taken. (KAKE)
  3. The S.H.A.R.E. House Annual Candlelight Vigil is on Thursday, Oct. 20. Join the community to honor victims and survivors of domestic violence, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church in Douglasville. (Douglasville Patch)
  4. Local Douglas County School System students will exhibit their winter-inspired artwork on Dec. 1 at the Cultural Arts Center in Douglasville. Certificates will be awarded to four students in four age categories, from kindergarten through grade 12. The artwork will be on display from Dec. 1 to Dec. 15. (Douglasville Patch)
