Douglas Courthouse, County Offices Make Winter Weather Decision
Due to freezing conditions anticipated, patches of black ice will be possible, even in areas with little or no snow accumulation.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory affecting several areas in North Georgia including Douglas County with the anticipation of possible snow. As a result of the pending inclement weather, the Douglas County Courthouse and County officials will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The advisory goes into effect 3 a.m. Tuesday - 7 p.m. Tuesday. Snow accumulations may lead to difficult travel conditions.

Douglas County Emergency Management Director Jason Milhollin held a meeting with County and City officials in the Douglas County Emergency Operations Center this afternoon at 4 p.m. Douglas County Department of Transportation officials, Fire and Rescue, E-911 Staff, WSA officials as well as the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Communications Department and City of Douglasville officials attended.

Douglas County DOT has been watching the approaching system and are making plans on how to treat the roadways.
Douglas County Commission Chairman Romona Jackson Jones and Vice-Chair Kelly Robinson stopped by and received a briefing from Director Milhollin and DOT Division Manager Lavon King.
