Douglas High Student Wins 1st At Congressional Art Competition
To date, Congressman David Scott has awarded over $600,000 in scholarships to student artists to assist in the success of their future.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA-- Douglas County High school student Adebola Adewale won first place at Congressman David Scott’s 17th Annual Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony held at the Douglas County Courthouse.
The competition was open to high school students from across Georgia’s Thirteenth Congressional District which included public, private, and home school students in Douglas, Clayton, Cobb, Fayette, Fulton and Henry counties.
Approximately 70 students submitted their artwork from multiple counties and schools in the 13th Congressional District. Their artwork was displayed at the Douglas County Courthouse on the third floor art gallery for judging prior to the scholarship presentation.

Adebola Adewale won first place for her artwork titled “Wrinkles and Words.” As the winner of the competition, Adewale received scholarships totaling more than $25,000 from various sources. Monies given were $12,000 from the Art Institute of Atlanta, $12,000 from Savannah College of Art and Design and $1,000 from AT&T and Georgia Power. New Manchester student Roxy Bridges received honorable mention for her artwork, “Faded.”
Several local politicians attended the art competition awards ceremony to support Congressman Scott and participating students.

“I commend Congressman Scott for his vision and commitment to the importance of recognizing talented student artists,” District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan said. “Each day I walked into the Courthouse, all of the student’s artwork made me smile. I knew it was going to be hard for the judges to pick a winner and I am delighted that the top prize went to our very own Douglas County student Adebola.”
The students weren’t the only ones being recognized at the ceremony. Congressman Scott also received a proclamation from the Douglas County Chairman and Board of Commissioners which highlighted the congressman’s substantial list of accomplishments.
