Douglasville Child Killed in I-20 Crash

Cobb County police say an GMC Yukon rear-ended the car driven by the child's mother. The mother and another child were sent to the hospital.

One child was killed and a second was injured when the vehicle they were riding in was rear-ended by an SUV on Interstate 20 Wednesday morning, Cobb County police said.

Mikkiala Green, 23, of Douglasville, was driving a 2002 BMW 530i westbound on I-20 just before Six Flags Parkway at 2:26 a.m. when she was rear-ended by a 2008 GMC Yukon, department spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said.

Green’s 1-year-old child was rushed to Scottish-Rite Hospital for treatment. Green’s 3-year-old child was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Green was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is in critical condition, according to Chilton. The driver of the GMC, 37-year-old Tyrone Gantt of Austell, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
