Douglasville Demonstration Monday Ends Peacefully

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Several hundred people demonstrated near Arbor Place Mall Monday afternoon to protest the death of George Floyd.

The Douglas County Sentinel reported that the crowd — mostly high school and college-aged — shouted “no peace, no justice” and “say his name” while officers from Douglas County law-enforcement agencies stood by.

The demonstration along Douglas Boulevard lasted nearly three hours and ended with only one arrest on a minor charge, according to the Sentinel.

Gloria Wilson and Ivana Fiallos organized the “peace protest” Sunday over social media, asking demonstrators to come with signs to Arbor Place Mall. The mall was closed Monday to accommodate the protest.
