Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:

  1. Douglasville resident Phillip Crawford has been arrested and charged for his alleged role in the U.S. Capitol breach on Jan. 6, 2021. He faces felony and misdemeanor charges for assaulting officers, obstructing law enforcement, and engaging in violence. Video evidence reportedly showed Crawford urging fellow rioters to charge at the tunnel entrance, as well as physically attacking officers. (WTVC)
  2. Do you love the arts and animals? L&R Alpaca Haven Farm is hosting its Artpaca Summer Festival on Saturday, Jul. 29. The free open-air market runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will include play activities, food, and opportunities to interact with some furry farm friends.   3. The S.H.A.R.E House Family Violence Crisis Center's 15th Annual 5K & Fun Run comes to Douglasville on Saturday, Sep. 16. The one-mile Fun Run begins at Boundary Waters Park at 8:30 a.m., with the 5K run starting at 9:00 a.m. Proceeds go toward the S.H.A.R.E. House, a nonprofit that works to address the causes and effects of family-based violence through crisis intervention and ongoing care. (Douglasville Patch)
  4. The Church Street Farmers Market is running today (Tuesday, Jul. 18) from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the parking lot of 6730 Church St. The farmers market is a joint effort of Keep Douglasville Beautiful, Cobb-Douglas Public Health, and UGA Douglas County Extension Services. If you won't be able to make this week's event, no worries — the market will run every Tuesday evening, rain or shine, through Oct. 24. (City of Douglasville)
  5. Save the date: the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County will host the Mosaic Multicultural Festival on Saturday, Sep. 9. The event, running at the CAC grounds from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., aims to display the rich diversity of the Douglasville community.
