The Douglasville Police Department arrested 33-year-old Jamie Morel in connection to the suspicious death of 28-year-old Timisha Ladawn Turner, who was found in the 6000 block of Fieldstone Drive on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Morel is charged with suspicion of felony murder, aggravated assault and simple battery and is currently in the Douglas County Jail. (Douglasville Patch)
  2. All That Frosting Cakery LLC, a cakery in Douglasville, has installed a glassfront cupcake vending machine inside the Thunderzone Family Entertainment Center at 3140 Bright Star Road. Dawn Brown, founder of All That Frosting Cakery LLC, said a cupcake vending machine is a great addition to snack and drink machines because it offers customers "more variety." (Vending Times)

The Beulah Grove Lodge and School No. 372 in Douglasville is on the latest "Places in Peril," an annual list from the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation which prioritizes threatened buildings for the organization to work on in the coming year. The Lodge was built around 1910 as a masonic lodge and school for Douglasville's Black community and is an important piece of history in the Jim Crow South. The lodge has deteriorated to "a dangerous state." (GPB News)
  4. Three-star football running back Jamarion Wilcox, a senior at South Paulding High School in Douglasville, received an offer from Ohio State University. Wilcox has 27 Division 1 offers — according to 247Sports' composite rankings, he is the 908th-best prospect and the 61st-best running back. (Eleven Warriors)
