ROME, GA — A Douglasville man is one of three people being held in the Floyd County jail without bond as part of an ongoing online sex sting operation.

Jeremy Seth Bedor, 41, was apprehended early Friday morning by Floyd County Police. According to The Rome News-Tribune, Bedor was arrested at the former Fred’s location on Martha Berry Highway after making contact with a female that police said he believed was under 16.

The police report said Bedor described sex acts he wanted the child to perform, sent her pornographic pictures and asked her for a nude photo. When he went to meet her in Floyd County, he was instead met by the police.

Bedor now faces multiple felony charges in connection with the meeting, including child molestation and obscene internet contact with a child. He was also charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.

Floyd County Police Chief Mark Wallace told The Rome News-Tribune he’s seen “a big increase” in cases like this since the coronavirus pandemic started and schools closed statewide. In March and April, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s child exploitation and computer crimes unit has made 49 arrests, 15 alone related to child pornography.

“It’s amazing,” Wallace told the News-Tribune. “Everybody sees these stories. It’s out there, it’s in the public that these cases are being made, but these people still do it.”
