DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- The Council for Quality Growth, in partnership with the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Douglasville, and the Douglas County Government, held the Douglasville/Douglas County State of the County Address Tuesday at the Douglasville Conference Center for a second year.

In 2018, the first Douglasville/Douglas County State of the County address marked the Council for Quality Growth’s 8th Address to be included in its line-up of premier events highlighting the growth and development in counties across metro Atlanta.

The 2019 joint keynote speeches were from Douglasville Mayor Rochelle Robinson and Douglas County Commission Chair, Dr. Romona Jackson Jones.

In her portion of the address, Robinson highlighted many of the successes throughout the Douglasville community during 2018. She referenced many of the planning efforts associated with the Downtown Master Plan, the Northside Redevelopment Study, and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

She noted the City’s emergence from the planning portion of those projects in 2017 and 2018 toward the beginning of construction phases in 2019.

“We’ve been hard at work receiving input, educating residents on planning and zoning processes, and preparing for development, so we can make it a smooth and seamless transition into developing the downtown and other areas,” she said.

Robinson also noted the impact that residents and community partners had on many of these plans by providing feedback on each phase of the City’s major planning efforts.

“We have seen more and more people come to Town Hall sessions, informational meetings, City Council meetings, and join steering committees – citizens really immersed themselves and their families into these processes and campaigns that we have undertaken to make the City a success,” she said.

Mayor Robinson finalized her address by reporting the City’s sound financial state as well as the accomplishments of its senior staff and other elected officials.
