  1. A Douglas County High School graduate recently joined the West Virginia University football team as an early enrollee. Zachariah Keith of Douglasville is a member of the university's 2023 signing class. He joined his fellow Mountaineers in West Virginia last week to begin summer workouts and other activities in preparation for the upcoming season. (WTRF)
  2. A Douglasville native is one of four Kennesaw State University students to be named as an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar. The title is awarded by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine to student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding success in their endeavors. Kierra Cooper of Douglasville is a current junior and softball player at the university, and she is pursuing a degree in psychology. (Kennesaw State Athletics)

The Douglasville Police Department is hosting its next Youth Peace Summit on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Everyone who works with or identifies as a youth in the Douglasville community is invited to attend the discussion, which will include light refreshments.   4. Police responded to a vehicle fire in Douglasville on Wednesday morning. The incident was reported around 5:55 a.m. and impacted the stretch of eastbound Interstate 20 before Fairburn Road and Exit 37.
