- Douglasville police are searching for a suspect who shoplifted jewelry from the Diamonds Forever store at the Arbor Place Mall on Sunday, Dec. 11. Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect and posted the security camera photographs. Contact the Douglasville Police Department at 678-293-1747 with any information regarding this incident. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- King Way’s Christian School has confirmed that two seniors were involved in the Dec. 7 crash off Highway 5 in Douglasville. Julie Howell, 17, died on impact, and another student, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital. The two students were on their way to school that morning. (WSB Atlanta)
- Keep Douglasville Beautiful will be hosting "Bring One for the Chipper," a drive-thru event where citizens can dispose of their Christmas trees. The event is on Jan. 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Home Depot, located at 7399 Douglas Boulevard in Douglasville. Trees can be dropped off at the Home Depot prior to the event starting the day after Christmas, Dec. 26, but the drop-off will be unmanned. (Press Release Desk)
- Yesterday, Dec. 15, the Atlanta Regional Commission announced that local communities will get $235 million in federal funding for a variety of road, trail, and transit improvements. The commission approved funding for 35 road projects, 25 bicycle-pedestrian trails, eight transit projects, and nine planning studies.
