- The Douglasville Police Department is hosting its first Town Hall of 2023 on Jan. 31. The Town Hall will be held at the department's Community Room from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Discussion topics for the meeting include violent crimes, and the 2022 end of year report. - Richarda Segal, former Douglasville City councilman and mayor pro tem, has announced he is running for mayor. The 23-year resident of Douglasville was elected to a four-year term on city council in 2015. Segal said, "I didn’t seek reelection when I completed my term on the city council because I had completed all the goals I had set for my time in office. Now I have new goals." - Two Douglasville residents were arrested on Jan. 24 according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office's daily arrest report. Nyzhon Edward Morrison-Tillman was arrested for participation in criminal gang activity, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and four other charges. Alejandro Tehandon Romero was arrested for false imprisonment, simple battery, and cruelty to children (third degree). (Douglas County Sheriff's Office)
- The Douglasville Police Department collected donations for the Griffin community after they suffered from a tornado recently. Spalding County Fire Department personnel met the Douglasville Police Department to help unload the donations collected by the town and greater Douglas County. Sgt. - A Douglasville home is having an open house this weekend. The available property is a 2,094 square-foot, four-bed, three-bath home for $334,000. The open house at the 55 Legend Creek Cove property will be held Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2:00 p.m. (Douglasville Patch)
