Douglasville Police Maintain Law Enforcement Certification​

The department was first awarded the State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification in 2014.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police has once again recognized the Douglasville Police Department with a State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification.

The department, which first received its certification in 2014, said it undergoes a rigorous review of policies, procedures and practices every three years in order to maintain the certification.

"We are proud of this team and the hard work they put into reaching this goal once again," the department wrote in a Facebook post.

The department said several of its leaders worked on the recertification effort including Lieutenant Nutter, Corporal Bender, Sergeant Sadler and Lieutenant Edwards. Bender was also recognized as the department's certification manager.

According to the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police website, departments opting to receive the certification must complete a self-analysis followed by a verification by a team of assessors.

According to the website, "Certification status represents a significant professional achievement. Certification acknowledges the implementation of policies and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective."
