  1. A Douglasville father-daughter pair is winning soap box races at the national level. Roy Garden and daughter Alexa started racing together years ago. On Labor Day, Alexa competed in the NDR National Championships in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and won two national championships, becoming the youngest person to win a title.   2. A new notice of incorporation has been delivered to the Secretary of State. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office Benevolent Fund, Inc. will be incorporated in accordance with the Georgia Business Corporation Code.   3. As we get closer to Halloween, more haunted houses are selling out tickets. You can check out Containment Haunted House in Lithia Springs on Thursdays through Sundays, or the Netherworld Haunted House in Stone Mountain every day of the week.   4. Douglas County School System Superintendent Trent North has been named a finalist for Georgia's Superintendent of the Year. North was one of four superintendents honored at the Georgia School Superintendents Association's fall conference in Athens. Douglas County Board of Education Board Chair Tracy Rookard said, "Superintendent Trent North is a skillful leader who never fails to do what is best for Douglas County students.   5. Having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card! The Douglas County branches of the West Georgia Regional Library System have plenty of events for the whole family to enjoy. Head over to Douglas County Public Library for Legos at the Library on Oct. 24, or enjoy the yarn and needlework club at Dog River Public Library on Nov. 9.
