  1. The School Superintendents Association announced Tuesday that Douglas County School System Superintendant Trent North has been named one of four finalists for the national title of Superintendent of the Year. The National Superintendent of the Year program is in its 36th year and on Feb. 16, the four finalists will be honored during the AASA School Superintendents Association National Conference. The finalist will be announced during the conference, too. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Paulding County detectives are investigating after a man was found dead on a driveway in a Douglasville subdivision. As of Monday night, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the case. Authorities received reports of shots fired and responded on Saturday night. The body was found with multiple shot wounds. Authorities ask that those with information submit tips to 770-443-3047. (11Alive.com WXIA)

The Douglas County Fire & EMS Department promoted Kaitlyn Massey to lieutenant, making her the first woman to be named lieutenant and be in charge of an entire engine company in the department's history. Massey joined the fire department in 2016 and has worked hard for this accomplishment. As a Douglasville native, she looks forward to giving back to her community. (Douglas County School System)
  4. The Douglas County Humane Society released its donation statistics from 2022. Because of donations, the shelter held eight spay/neuter days and a sponsored vaccine clinic; 75 animals were provided with emergency care; over 17,000 lbs of dry cat/dog food were distributed; over 300 animals were spayed or neutered!   5. The community is invited to attend a swearing-in ceremony for Douglas County elected officials. The ceremony will be held for both new and re-elected county officials.
