- Douglasville police held a youth peace summit after deadly gang violence rocked the community. After a recent shooting at a local Sweet Sixteen party killed two teens and injured seven others, the department hopes its Saturday Youth Peace Summit was an effort to reach kids before they choose to pick up a gun. - Armed teens were arrested after they broke into cars. Police responded to the Millwood Park Apartments on Friday, Mar. 17, after a witness reported that several cars were being broken into. Four suspects, some carrying firearms, fled in a vehicle. Three of the suspects were immediately taken into custody after stopping; the fourth was tracked and apprehended by the K-9 unit. (Patch.com)
- On Mar. 10, the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County provided its March ARTSventure to Mt. Carmel Elementary School. The Fire/EMS Department is collaborating with the Douglas County Community Service Board to pair first responders with behavioral health clinicians.
