  1. Following an incident at Hal Hutchens Elementary School in Douglasville, a fifth-grade student was removed from the building after multiple children sustained minor injuries from a retractable utility knife brought to school. The teacher promptly informed the administrators, who involved the district's safety officer. Law enforcement is now handling the situation, and the principal emphasized the importance of discussing appropriate behavior with students while reminding parents of the school's policy and providing information about an anonymous tip line. The City of Douglasville is hosting Splash N' Play, a free event at Hunter Memorial Park on Jun. 8 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Open to all ages, attendees can enjoy water slides, games, and have fun while staying cool.   5. National Police Week is coming to an end. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office extended its condolences to law enforcement agencies across this country for the loss of officers. This year, 443 names were added to the wall of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. One of Douglas Counties' own Dep. Haven Blake Gammill will continue to be remembered for all of his services to the community and his impact on the many people he worked with and served.
