  1. The Douglas County Fire Department has promoted a woman to the role of lieutenant fire suppression for the first time in the history of the department. Kaitlyn Massey has assumed the role after seven years with the department. Massey will oversee everyone at the station she works at. She will also work closely with rescue and fire truck crews.   2. Connect Douglas has proposed to keep up its weekly operations of the Fixed Bus Route Service. The commuter-focused public transit program wants to continue service on the Saturday schedule that operates from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. To discuss the proposal with the community, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners will be holding an open forum on Feb. 7.   3. The February Coffee & Conversations event has been announced. On Feb. 4, District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell III, will be hosting the February meeting.
