Four Douglas County Educators Promoted To New Positions
Three new supervisors and a school principal were named Tuesday by Douglas County Schools Superintendent Trent North.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Four new appointments within the Douglas County School System were announced Tuesday by Superintendent Trent North:
- Dr. Kacia Thompson will serve as Director of Extended Learning. In this new position, Thompson will oversee all learning programs that occur outside normal school hours, including all after-school programs and summer school. Thompson has been with the Douglas County school district since 2005 and had served as principal of Burnett Elementary and Dorsett Shoals Elementary.
- Mitch Springer comes to the Douglas County School System as Area Executive Director, overseeing 12 schools in the system. Springer has worked in administrative positions in both Carroll County and Carrollton City Schools. He currently serves as principal of Villa Rica Middle School.
- Shelly Hester, currently principal of Dorsett Shoals Elementary, has accepted the position of Area Executive Director for the Douglas County School System. She will oversee 12 schools. Hester has administrative experience in school systems in Douglas and Carroll Counties. She began her career as a teacher in Douglas County in 1995.
- Kelly Brown will take over as principal of Dorsett Shoals Elementary. Brown began her career at Clayton County Schools and has worked in Douglas County since 2006, most recently as assistant principal at Bill Arp Elementary.
