- Keep Douglas County Beautiful is hosting the Great Douglas County Shredding event to promote recycling and environmental care. Starting at 9:00 a.m., participants can enter the courthouse parking lot through the west entrance and follow the marked route for the drive-through event. Attendees are encouraged to bring their old tax records, financial reports, and personal documents for shredding, with a limit of ten boxes per vehicle. The event is free and aims to facilitate secure document disposal. (Douglas County Happenings)
- A teenage boy from nearby Powder Springs was fatally shot down the road in the Bill Arp area, leading to the arrest of four individuals in connection with the incident. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting, and the victim, Brian Brown, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The suspects, Zayden Cooper, Angel Menchaca Hernandez, Giovanni Omedeo, and Douglas Omedeo, have been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault, while the investigation is ongoing. (Patch)
- The Record Restriction and Community Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, Jul. 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Douglasville. This event will feature community partners sharing information about their organizations, second-chance employers, and resume reviews.
