  1. The Douglas County Chamber will be celebrating the grand opening of HOTWORX Studio today. HOTWORX is a "24/7 infrared fitness studio" with multiple different workout styles available.   2. A Douglasville athlete is one of six to receive the prestigious U.S. Distinguished International Shooter Badge in 2022. Katelyn Abeln, 21, is a pistol athlete currently attending Ohio State University. Abeln won a silver medal in the 2018 World Shooting Championship, as well as a gold medal and 2024 Olympic Quota Place at the 2022 Shooting Championship of the Americas in Lima, Peru. (USA Shooting)
  3. The 18th Annual Afternoon with Authors event will return to the Cultural Arts Center in Douglasville/Douglas County this Sunday, Feb. 19. The event will feature a lineup of local authors and poets who will present readings and performances from their published works.   • When it comes to doling out municipal fines and fees, Georgia ranks fourth in the nation. According to an analysis of 2020 Census Bureau data, the Reason Foundation found that Peach State cities collected nearly $377 million in fines and fees from residents across the state that year. That’s about $35.16 per person, compared to the national average of $27 per resident. (The Center Square)
