I-20 At Fairburn Road Beautification Set To Begin Spring 2019

The City of Douglasville says the $1.1 million I-20 at Fairburn Road Interchange beautification is set to begin in spring of 2019.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – The City of Douglasville recently provided an update to the status of one of its major transportation projects: the beautification of the interchange of I-20 at Fairburn Road.

As the design process is currently being finalized, Steve Tiedemann of AECOM reported that construction of this $1.1 million project is set to begin in the spring of 2019.

“In addition to correcting some drainage issues,” Tiedemann said, “the plan consists of planting approximately 48 trees, 18 plants, and four acres of Bermuda sod.”

Increasing the beatification around Douglasville has been one of the main initiatives for Mayor Rochelle Robinson throughout her term in office. “When visitors come into Douglasville from I-20, we want them to be welcomed with beauty on Fairburn Road, not a vast area of concrete,” she said.

This project will transform the I-20 interchange at Fairburn Road into a gateway to the City of Douglasville that will welcome visitors and create a stronger sense of community within the City.
