- During a new episode of Finding Your Roots on PBS, 55-year-old "Pretty Woman" and "Mystic Pizza" actress Julia Roberts discovered new details about her family history. Through an 1880 census for Douglas County, Julia found out that Willis Roberts was not her great-great-grandfather, because he had died before her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts was born. After DNA testing, it was revealed that Henry McDonald Mitchell Junior is Julia’s actual biological great-great-grandfather. (Metro UK)
- The Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County (CAC) was one of 35 arts organizations to be awarded a grant for general operating support by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta.
