- On Aug. 21, Franklin Township Police in New Jersey arrested 39-year-old Eder Gelin of Douglasville after allegedly shooting an unidentified 37-year-old woman in the hip and foot. According to police, the victim knew Gelin and identified him as the shooter. Gelin has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, first degree kidnapping, second degree possession of a weapon, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. (Tap Into Franklin)
- On Aug. 22, many celebrated the life and legacy of Mr. Jessie Davis, Sr. with a groundbreaking for the upcoming renovations to Jessie Davis Park. Mr. Davis, a Douglasville native, was married to Mrs. Beulah Welch Davis and had 8 children. Centennial Park was renamed after Mr. Davis because he dedicated himself to the improvement of recreation opportunities for the youth of Douglasville. (Press Release Desk )
