  1. Chick-Fil-A named local Douglasville organization S.H.A.R.E. House as one of 46 winners for its 2023 True Inspiration Award grant. As part of the award, the organization will receive $125,000. Winners of the award were recognized for their contributions to supporting their communities. (WSB Atlanta)

Keep Douglas County Beautiful will be distributing 200 miniature trees to the community to plant during service projects on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Douglas County Courthouse from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.   3. The new speaker of the Georgia House announced he will be creating a special committee to oversee health care legislation in the state. Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns said the oversight committee is part of the legislature's priorities to make health care access accessible for all Georgians.   4. Some Georgia legislatures are pushing to reform professional licensing in the state to make it easier for people with certain criminal records to apply for various occupational licenses. The new bill would help to standardize the licensing process and clarify what offenses should prevent individuals from obtaining licensure for occupations like teaching, nursing, engineering, and more.   5. A nationwide computer outage grounded U.S. domestic flights on Wednesday morning, delaying 438 flights and canceling 34 others at the Hartsfield Jackson-International Airport in nearby Atlanta. The outage affected a safety system used by the Federal Aviation Administration. The order to ground flights was lifted later Wednesday morning. (WSB-TV)
