  1. A Douglasville native has received an offer to play football at the University of Alabama. Jordan Carter currently plays for Douglas County High School and was a freshman for the Tigers just last season. He has also received offers from Georgia, Tennessee, and Connecticut. (Roll Tide Wire)
  2. A high school student from Douglasville has finished as a semifinalist at the Miss Teen Georgia competition. The competition was held in Columbus, where Corynn Nurse secured her spot among the top 10 semifinalists. Nurse is currently a rising junior at Chapel Hill High School.   3. A former Douglasville softball player has joined the coaching staff at the University of Mississippi as a graduate assistant. Savana Sikes played her final collegiate season with the Rebels before signing on to help coach the team. She previously helped the team secure its seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance.   4. The Douglas County School System (DCSS) will host its annual Back-to-School Kickoff Celebration on Jul. 22. Students, parents, and community members are all invited to stop by the DCSS Central Office from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be games, free food, prizes, and school supply giveaways.
