- Douglasville's own Megan Danielle has secured her spot in the top three of "American Idol." The city will be hosting a Hometown Hero gathering today (Tuesday, May 16), with the celebration to be televised during the season finale on Sunday, May 21, at 8:00 p.m. on ABC. Danielle has also announced the release of her new single, "Dream Girl," coming out this Friday, May 19. (Patch)
- Tonight at 6:30 p.m., the Douglasville Police Department is hosting a 21st Century Concepts to Parenting class. The class will cover a range of parenting-related topics and feature presentations from community leaders. - Calling all foodies: the Taste of Douglasville festival returns this Saturday, May 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in downtown Douglasville. This community event showcases local restaurants, businesses, and community booths, with live music as well as free entertainment for the kids. Admission and parking are both free; attendees can also park at the Transportation Center on Dorris Road and ride the free shuttle to and from the festival.
