- The first session of the Youth Against Violence Program 2023 took place over the weekend. Twenty-two people attended the program, which was held at the Douglasville Police Department. Pro-Tem Terry Miller talked about foundational building. The session also covered the First Amendment and communication skills. (Douglasville Police Department via Facebook)
- The Douglas County Public Library will be hosting Musical Theater Thursday on Jan. 26 at 4:30 p.m. Theater lovers of all ages are invited to attend a free showing of "The Greatest Showman" (PG, 2017). Sing-alongs are welcome, and free popcorn will be provided. (WGRLS)
- Want to help shape the future of Douglasville's parks and community events? You can join one of two upcoming Community Vision Board meetings happening this week. The first meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow (Jan. 10) at the Ike Owings Community Center, and the second will be at 9:00 a.m. on Jan. 14 at the Alice J. Hawthorne Community Center. Attendees are invited to share their thoughts and opinions for future and upcoming events and programs for all groups and special populations via special focus groups. Prizes and giveaways will be provided, and children can participate in crafts + activities during the meeting. (City of Douglasville)
- On Jan. 31, the Douglasville Police Department will hold its Town Hall Meeting. The meeting will be held Douglasville Police Department Community Room. The topics will be the 2022 End of Year Report as well as a discussion on violent crimes. There will be light refreshments for attendees. (Douglasville Police Department via Facebook)
