Man Tries To Pass Counterfeit Money In Villa Rica: Police

A man is accused of trying to pass two counterfeit $50 bills​ at an Auto Zone, according to the Villa Rica Police Department.

VILLA RICA – A Tennessee man is accused of trying to pass two counterfeit $50 bills at the Auto Zone on Bankhead Hwy, Feb. 16, according to the Villa Rica Police.

Police were notified of a person trying to pass counterfeit money at the Auto Zone on Bankhead Hwy. The investigation revealed that Omari Levon Jones, 27, from Memphis, Tenn., attempted to use two counterfeit $50 bills to make a purchase. Jones was arrested at the scene. The two bills were found to have the same serial number and were counterfeit.

On Feb. 20, an employee of Auto Zone discovered money that had been hidden near the front door of the business. The money was found to be seven $10 bills, all with the same serial number, and a $100 bill which was also found to be counterfeit. It is believed that Jones, or a person with him, hid the money as the police officer arrived.
