Man Who Died In Douglasville Shooting That Injured 3 Identified
Deputies were at the North Bear Drive home to investigate a shooting, when the suspect was accused of shooting a responding deputy.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Authorities have identified the man who died during a shooting Wednesday at a North Bear Drive home, where a deputy and two other people were also shot.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Walter Jackson Sr., 66, was shot and laying on the kitchen floor when Douglas County deputies arrived around 9:30 a.m. at the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
When they arrived, deputies identified themselves and gave commands before entering the home. After finding Jackson, they saw a woman holding a baby who notified the deputies that the accused shooter was in another room, the GBI said.

The deputies found the suspected shooter, a 27-year-old Douglasville man, and gave him commands to show them his hands. The man then shot the deputy and retreated shortly before re-emerging and shooting at the deputy again, who was on the ground, the GBI said.
Deputies returned fire, hitting the man. He was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was in stable condition, the GBI said.

The deputy, who was shot multiple times, was also in stable condition, the GBI said. Douglas County Sheriff Tim Pounds said Thursday the deputy was released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon and is resting at home.
"Thank you all for your, concern, support and prayers during this time," Pounds said in a statement.
Criminal Investigations Capt. John Mooney said Wednesday the woman was also shot. Her condition is unknown.
Potential charges in the case have not been announced.
Once complete, the GBI's case file will be given to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for review.
This is the 84th shooting involving an officer the GBI has been requested to investigate this year.
