  1. Douglasville native and “American Idol” runner-up Megan Danielle, along with season 16 “Idol” winner Maddie Poppe, will host a streaming concert for the first time this Sunday, Jul. 16. The hometown hero has thus far released two singles — "Dream Girl" and "Faithfully" —and is in the process of creating her debut album. Tickets for the livestream concert, "Summer Live," are currently on sale for $17.99. (Benzinga)
  2. Is your teen looking for something fun to fill their social calendar this weekend? Teens Night Out is happening tomorrow evening (Friday, Jul. 14) at the Ike Owings Community Center. The event runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and will feature various engaging activities for teenagers aged 12 to 17, including crafts, games, music, and delicious food. Tickets for entry are $10.   3. The Douglas County School System will host its annual Back-to-School Kickoff Event on Saturday, Jul. 22. Students, parents, and community members can head over to the DCSS Central Office for the festivities, running from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Attendees can enjoy free food, games, prizes, and school supplies giveaways, as well as resources from local community agencies and district departments on site. The City of Douglasville will provide games, music, and food at Willing Workers Community Club Park this Saturday, Jul. 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Those attending are welcome (but not required) to bring their own lawn chairs.   5. Connect Douglas will host a free workshop on Wednesday, Jul. 19, for minority-owned businesses interested in learning about Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification. The hybrid event aims to help businesses in completing the DBE certification, as well as educate business owners about current projects in Douglas County.
