  1. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help searching for 22-year-old Karissa Murphy. Murphy was seen leaving her home on Apr. 2 and has not been seen since. Authorities believe she may be en route to Washington State, but her whereabouts at this time remain unknown. Murphy is described as being 5 feet 2 inches tall and 218 pounds, and she was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and baby blue Christmas pajama pants. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. (The Georgia Sun)

  3. Fresh Express has issued a voluntary recall of three salad kit varieties due to concerns about Listeria contamination. The Georgia Department of Agriculture tested a sample salad kit and found tracings of Listeria, but no other illnesses have been reported. The recall affects retailers in five states and customers who purchased the salad kits with use-by dates of Mar. 31 or Apr. 2, 2023. (Across Georgia Patch)

  5. Sheila Ahmadi has become the first African-American to earn the Citizen of the Year award from the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce in Fishersville, Va. Ahmadi is a social worker with over 25 years of experience, whose work included initiatives to combat Sudden Death Syndrome and mental health issues in the Black community. In addition to local supporters, nominations for Ahmadi came from supporters in Douglasville and other areas, who could attest to her substantial contribution to their communities. (The News Leader)
