Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:
- A Douglasville business owner says she is out thousands of dollars after being targeted by a phone scam. Kimberly Melson, the owner of Kimberlite Events, says a man pretending to be affiliated with her bank called and asked her to verify her account information in order to dispute alleged fraudulent activity. Douglasville Police are currently investigating the incident. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- A cornerback from Douglas County has committed to play football at West Virginia University. Jacob Boyce reportedly received over twenty offers from various schools, including Boston College and Cincinnati. Boyce was ranked as the 69th best cornerback in the nation following the Under Armour All-American Combine held earlier this year. (247Sports)
- The Douglasville Police Department is seeking the public's help locating a missing person last seen in the Hospital Drive area. Homer Sherman Callaway is six feet tall, weighs approximately 330 pounds, and may be walking with a cane. Anyone who sees Callaway or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911. - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will host the Night of the Blue Lights Car Show on Aug. 12 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Stop by the Douglas County Courthouse to see a variety of law enforcement vehicles and show cars, or enter your own classic car for $25.
