DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A man was injured in a police shooting after authorities say he fatally shot his wife and pointed a gun at officers Saturday at his Douglasville home.

Douglasville Police officers responded to a call of a domestic incident around 9:30 p.m. at the Littlebrook Way home, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

When they arrived, they found Sabrina Walker, 56, laying in the yard and suffering from unknown injuries, the GBI said.

Authorities say Volanta Lejuan Walker, the woman's 51-year-old husband, was standing nearby and armed with a handgun.

Officers gave him commands to drop the gun, but the GBI said Volanta Walker refused to comply and pointed the handgun toward the officers.

An officer then shot him, and Volanata Walker was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the GBI said.

Authorities later determined the Walkers had gotten into an argument inside the home. During the dispute, Volanta Walker was accused of chasing his wife outside and shooting her.

Sabrina Walker was pronounced dead at the scene, the GBI said. Her body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Once the investigation is complete, the police shooting case will be turned over to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for review. The death investigation will be turned over for prosecution.
