- Jacob McGraw, a graduate of Alexander High School in Douglasville, has been named the new Band Director of Oxford Middle School in Anniston, Alabama. He graduated with honors from Jacksonville State in 2020. Mr. McGraw expressed his gratitude and excitement looking toward the start of the fall semester. (The Anniston Star)
- The new Resia Tributary Apartments are now leasing. The multi-family development offers the latest amenities and appliances. - Jordan Carter, Class of 2026 defensive end, received an offer from Alabama on Jun. 14. He is considered one of the best in his class. The Douglasville native impressed Alabama after camp in Tuscaloosa. He expressed his liking of the standard and culture of Alabama and said he was honored by the offer. Other offers poured in from Georgia, Florida, Clemson, and Ohio State. (247Sports)
- Increased funding for summer programs at Douglas County Middle and High Schools is facilitating much-needed learning opportunities. Grants from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and the Community Learning Centers have helped in the creation of a Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Camp (CTAEC) of experiential learning. - Douglas County Parks and Recreation announced an upcoming Explore the Park event on Saturday, Jul. 22 at Boundary Waters Park from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The Aquatic Center will be hosting activities such as Stretch & Meditation and Martial Arts & Self-Defense. The Activity Center will be holding thirty-minute sessions on pickleball, line dancing, chair fitness, tai chi, and more. The event will also feature a bounce house, food trucks, and a DJ. This original program is the result of a spectacular new partnership with the Douglas County Chamber Foundation.
