  1. An update on a previously reported story: the shooting on Mar. 29 prompted a lockdown at New Manchester High. The armed Georgia man, later to be identified as Steven Blunt, was shot by Douglas County deputies near the high school after shooting at police who came to his home; he later died at the hospital. The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office plan to conduct an autopsy on Blunt. (Source)
  2. The CAC Mad Hatter Tea Party returned to town a week ago and was a rousing success. According to a recent press release from the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County, families enjoyed flamingo croquet on the lawn, face painting, pin the grin on the Cheshire cat, and of course, the tea party with the Alice and Wonderland characters.   3. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is one of 21 law enforcement agencies to receive a unique grant. Recently, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety announced the office received a Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic grant, totaling $138,000.
