Special Olympics Softball, Bocce Invitational In Douglasville

Douglas County is hosting the 11th annual invitational for softball and bocce this Saturday.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The Douglas County is hosting the 11th annual softball and bocce invitational on Saturday, according to a release from the county. The event, run by the county's Special Olympics and Parks and Recreation organizations, will draw nearly 600 athletes from across Georgia.

Cities across the state make bids to host Special Olympics Georgia invitationals for any of 26 sports offered. They include kayaking, tennis, soccer, volleyball, sailing, bocce, softball and basketball, the release said.

It will be at the Boundary Waters Sports Complex, at 5000 Hwy. 92 in Douglasville from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Officials invite the general public to attend the competition.
