- Although Georgia weather is unpredictable, the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department has determined the sunny and 75-degree weather is enough for the Spring Fling at Clinton Park to be back on! From 12-4 p.m. today, you can enjoy a free family fun day with carnival rides, a petting zoo, a rock climbing wall, and more! (Douglas County Happenings via Facebook)
- On Apr. 17, Tyreeq English-Richards pleaded guilty to multiple counts of rape, aggravated child molestation, and child molestation before Chief Superior Court Judge William βBeauβ McClain. English-Richards had sexually assaulted a 14-year-old victim while staying at a friend's house in Douglas County where he was not allowed due to being a registered sex offender and was also found guilty of impregnating three other young girls between the ages of 13 and 14. He received a sentence of life with the first 70 years to be served in prison without the possibility of parole. (Douglas County District Attorney's Office via Facebook)
- The Douglasville Police Department needs your help in a new case. The person pictured on the department's Facebook page is a suspect in a simple battery case. - Join the Douglasville Police Department today for its next event in the Youth Peace Summit series. This Saturday's summit will center on conflict resolution and takes place between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Like the rest of the series events, this is a free event to attend and light refreshments will be served. - Congratulations to Mt. Carmel kindergarten student, Amelia Sunu, who was the Metro RESA winner for her Young Georgia Authors writing submission.
