Students To Dazzle At Upcoming Fine Arts Extravaganza

Audiences will be delighted at a dazzling evening of talent at Douglas County High School's Mashburn Theater.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA -- The Douglas County Education Foundation will delight audiences with a dazzling evening of talent at Douglas County High School’s Mashburn Theater on April 16.

Kaleidoscope is Douglas County’s one night only salute to the arts. Talented high school students from throughout Douglas County will pack the evening with powerhouse vocals, dance, and visual art performances. The Douglas County Chamber Singers, an all-ages community chamber will open and close the show with their spirited rendition of “New York, New York!”

The evening’s performances will feature a capella performances, show choir numbers, and energetic selections from popular musicals. From Chapel Hill High School’s fabulously fun “Legally Blonde: The Musical” to Alexander High’s majestically magical “Beauty and the Beast,” theatre lovers are in for an evening of first-class entertainment. Douglas County High will also grace the stage that evening with performances from the beloved book “Little Women,” while New Manchester and Lithia Springs High School swill showcase their dynamic vocals, including solos and songs from “The Wiz.”

KC Emberson, Douglas County Education Foundation board member and owner of Dance Academy West coordinated Kaleidoscope. “It’s an honor to be a part of Kaleidoscope this year,” said Ms. Emberson. “I am so proud of the fine arts students in our community. I am excited that we are all able to come together to recognize these talented students and celebrate the arts.”

This year’s event will debut a visual arts display featuring art created by high school students. Also, new this year, representatives from colleges and universities will meet with students interested in learning more about fine arts programs and the admissions process. Students interested in talking with the representatives should plan to arrive at 5 p.m.

Kaleidoscope ticket holders may also attend a valuable workshop designed to leverage networking skills through the power of social media. LinkedIn expert and social media strategist Jim Browning will lead the workshop on April 23 at 4 p.m. at Murray Educational Center. Attendees will learn the secrets to crafting a powerful LinkedIn profile. Browning, an East West Bank Executive and a member of the Douglas County Education Foundation board has coached nearly 18,000 people on their job search.

The star-studded event kicks off Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or at Douglas County Education Foundation is sponsoring this second annual edition of Kaleidoscope. Proceeds from the evening benefit the foundation and high school fine arts programs.
