VILLA RICA, GA — A Douglasville man stopped by police because his truck didn’t have a tag turned out to be carrying what they thought was a bomb.

Ricky Womack, 30, was arrested by Villa Rica police Monday and charged with transporting an explosive device, not having a tag, driving with a suspended license, possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and theft by receiving stolen property.

According to The Times-Georgian, when police stopped Womack, they discovered that not only was he missing a tag, he was driving with a suspended license and had active warrants in Carroll and Douglas counties.

Police then arrested Womack, searched him and found what they said was meth in his pocket. Officers found a Haralson County traffic-control sawhorse in the bed of Womack’s truck.

They also found what they suspected to be a small explosive device, made from a PVC pipe, according to the Carrollton newspaper.

GBI agents were able to dismantle the PVC pipe without igniting it. They later sent its contents to a lab for testing.

As of Thursday, Womack was in the Carroll County Jail without bond. Although he’s still charged with felonies for meth possession and probation violation, the charge of transporting an explosive device is not shown on his jail record.
