'The Vehicle Wasn't Stolen' Says Pair Accused Of Stealing Vehicle

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A couple stopped in Florida on July 4 while driving a luxury SUV from Douglasville was arrested after shouting at officers “the vehicle wasn’t stolen.”

Actually, according to authorities, it was stolen.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hana Abdul-Rahman Firdous, 24, of Adrian, Michigan, and Jontei E. Simmons, 38, of Holland, Ohio, after stopping them July 4 in a Porsche Cayenne stolen in Douglasville.

According to The Citrus County Chronicle, Firdous was charged with third-degree-felony auto theft. Both Firdous and Simmons were charged with resisting officers without violence.

When sheriff’s deputies discovered the SUV was stolen, they ordered Firdous and Simmons out of the vehicle. The couple initially refused to leave the vehicle or identify themselves.

After about 24 minutes of the couple yelling “the vehicle wasn’t stolen,” deputies removed the pair from the SUV and arrested them. Simmons later was pepper sprayed by corrections officers at the local jail when he refused to cooperate.

Firdous’s bond was set at $3,000. Simmons’ bond was set at $1,000.
