'This Was A Setup': GA Judge Accused Of Hitting APD Officer Speaks Out

Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson claims she was helping a woman who was being attacked by men when she got arrested.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Georgia judge accused of hitting an Atlanta police officer working an extra job early Thursday in a Buckhead nightclub says she was set up.

Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson, 38, took to Instagram on Thursday to clarify what she said actually happened at the Peachtree Road nightclub.

Peterson, accused of seemingly being under the influence, was accused of hitting an officer in the head while the officer was checking on a woman who was crying in the club, Fox 5 Atlanta reported, citing a police report.

"This was a setup. Officer initially claimed he was charging me with disorderly conduct, all for trying to help a woman who was being attacked by men then took me to jail and I find out I’m being charged with a felony now," Peterson said on Instagram.

"Officer slammed me to the ground for helping this woman but let the attacker get away. Here I sit with bruises, black eye, swollen knee, and a felony charge because the Officer, security, and men there chose not to help this victim and instead find a way to charge me with a crime. Where is the protect and serve? Wow. They will stop at nothing to tarnish my character. God help us! We need justice."

Shannon Harris, with the handle @madisonshannonkelly on Instagram, claimed Peterson was assisting her friend who was being assaulted by a "huge guy double her size." Harris claimed they requested the help of security and other men; however, it was Peterson who came to the woman's aid.

"This was an Accident nothing intentional to harm an officer. I’m sure @redmartiniatl has camara footage to prove all the FACTS 🙏🏾‼️‼️Please find the Man that got away with this assault cause he is the person that should be arrested ‼️‼️‼️‼️ He got away and we filed a police report w/ Atlanta Police Department on the scene ‼️‼️ please help us get justice for my friend and this judge🙏🏾Pray for Atlanta it’s not safe out here," Harris wrote.

Marvin Arrington Jr., Peterson's attorney, is calling for the dismissal of the charges, citing Peterson was helping a woman who was being assaulted, 11Alive reported.
