Winds Of 35 MPH Could Pummel North Georgia On Thursday, Advisory Issued
A wind advisory is in effect Thursday for north Georgia, including Bartow, Cobb, Cherokee, Douglas and Paulding counties.

GEORGIA — The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Thursday for most of north Georgia through 6 p.m., with southeast winds 15 to 20 mph and possible wind gusts up to 35 mph. Areas at higher elevations in the mountains could see gusts up to 45 mph.
Bartow, Carroll, Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding and Polk counties are included in the wind advisory, as well as the cities of Calhoun, Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, Carrollton and Douglasville.
Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, according to the Weather Service. Some trees and tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may occur as a result of the wind, especially at higher elevations.

The NWS urges drivers to use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle, and securing outdoor objects that may fly around due to the high winds. Winds this strong could make it difficult to drive.

Parts of southeast Georgia can also expect strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening, with the highest threat along Interstate 95 and east of the interstate, according to a hazardous weather outlook from the NWS. The central Savannah River area is also affected, mainly east of I-20. Isolated tornadoes are possible in both areas.

Here's the National Weather Service forecast for the next few days:
Showers are likely throughout the state through Sunday, particularly in north Georgia. High temperatures are expected in the mid 50s Friday and Saturday, with lows at 50 degrees. Sunday should be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s.
