Auto Shop Catches Fire In Duluth

Flames burst near a vehicle at a Duluth auto shop, leading fire crews to spend about an hour bringing the blaze under control.

DULUTH, GA — There were no injuries after an accidental fire erupted Monday at a Buford Highway Northwest auto shop.

A car was being repaired when flames arose around 2 p.m. at Stefan International Car Service, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said. The blaze began near a vehicle inside the shop, fire officials said.

When crews arrived, fire officials said they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-story metal building. They conducted a search and rescue and discovered everyone had safely escaped the structure, fire officials said.

Firefighters then combatted the blaze from the outside due to safety concerns, fire officials said. After about an hour, the fire was brought under control.

No one was injured, and it is unknown what specifically caused the fire.
